Jacob woke up with what appears to be hives this morning, for the first time ever. A couple of them randomly appeared and disappeared on his face throughout the day. No idea why.

This week we're babysitting two of our nieces (1 1/2 and 4) for 5 nights (out of the 9 nights Nathan's sister and her husband are gone on a cruise) and one evening. Basically tag teaming with Nathan's parents. We talked to our girls about helping out while they were here, looks like it paid off...

I was going to post a picture of Nathan and I on a date night (The Keg and the movie The Impossible, about the 2004 tsunami), but it turned out really grainy for some reason. So, here was breakfast for the kids this morning - snowman pancakes!

Tonight Nathan and I met Harry & Karla and Jared & Natasha for supper at Boston Pizza before heading over to the Jets game - my first one of the 2013 season (shortened due to lockout), and Sidney Crosby's first ever appearance vs the Jets!

Crosby scored twice AND the Jets came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 4-2.  I couldn't have scripted it better myself!

Jets fans come up with some crazy chants sometimes - tonight's was "Mario's pool boy!" - pretty funny.

It was one of the best hockey games we've seen so far.  Fantastic evening!

I had a wonderful evening with my best friend - Earl's for supper (delicious blackened chicken!) and then a theatre production of Gone With the Wind which was fantastic.

Today my baby turned 5! Here he is with a couple of his birthday gifts - Jets poster (from his sisters) and Jets bathrobe. He loved them both! He also got to pick a few of his own gifts at Toys R Us with Nathan and I (Nathan decided he didn't want to work in -40c weather today). We had lunch together at Famous Dave's and I made his favourite supper tonight - waffles.

Drove in some sketchy winter conditions to Pine Falls for Olivia's hockey tournament today with the girls while Nathan and Jacob stayed home to go to the Jets home opener. Today we had 2 games against really tough teams and lost 9-6 (huge improvement over 18-2 from the last time we played them) and 10-2. But then it was swimming, water sliding, pizza, chips, and playing at the hotel! Two more games tomorrow before we head home on roads that have hopefully been cleared.

I know this is only supposed to be one picture per day, but something else happened that was pretty special so I need to include one more picture.

Jacob went to his very first Jets game!  The home opener of the 2013 season!  He had a blast.  After the game they went to Nathan's parents for supper and at one point while playing with Grandpa, Jacob told him that it was his best day ever!

Inspired by my friend Pamela, I've decided to start a iPhoto 365 project.  Not surprisingly, considering the name, I'm going to take one iPhone photo every day and upload it to this blog.  So, here we go!
