Christmas gifts for the teachers.  I had each of the kids write "From the desk of Mrs. X" at the top of the page, and draw a picture in the bottom corner.  Then I scanned them into VistaPrint and ordered them as notepads.  Homemade, but useable, so they can eventually be tossed (unless they choose to keep one as a keepsake, but this way they feel less obligated).  They also got some homemade cinnamon buns.

I had already wrapped some before I remembered to take the picture.  Also, I had messed up on the order and accidentally ordered Emma's teacher's twice instead of Olivia's!  Oops!

After waiting all day, hoping this delivery would get here in time to quickly wrap/deliver on the last day of school before Christmas break - I thought of checking the mailbox - thankfully they were there and the gifts made it to school just in the nick of time.

Inspired by my sister doing this for her husband last year, and reminded by my friend Pamela doing it for her husband this year, I've decided to bless my husband with gifts throughout the twelve days of Christmas - or at least, the twelve days leading up to Christmas.  I know they technically start on Christmas Day, but I think it's more fun to give them out before Christmas - both as a fun anticipation of Christmas Day, and as a reminder during this busy season to prioritize the relationships closest to me.

The general idea is that I will give Nathan a gift every day for the next twelve days, and the gift will correspond somehow with the number of the day in the countdown.

Today's gift was one Starbucks Christmas tree ornament - Nathan was recently introduced to their frappuccino and it's his new favourite drink.  Emma hung it up next to one of the two Tim's ornaments already in our tree.

Nathan acted like the idea was a bit silly, but I can tell he really likes it.  I'm looking forward to the next twelve days!

Tonight, after dinner at The Keg and some time in McNally Robinson bookstore, Nathan and I went to see Catching Fire.  It was great!

After initially being a bit nervous to go to the chiropractor again (it had been a long time, and he didn't remember it), now Jacob loves it!  This actually wasn't even his turn - he had gone with me the day before, and today I brought the girls (since there was no school).  He was hoping to get to go again, but no such luck!

Emma was Aslan's Follower #1 (rabbit) and Sophia was in the Witch's Army in our church's production of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.  Tonight was the first of two performances and they did fantastic!

After a long, busy week, Nathan had hockey tonight.  I decided to spend my evening with a PVR'd episode of Parenthood along with chips, salsa, and Pepsi.  Oh yes, I did.

 Olivia talked me into making an extra trip to school this afternoon to bring her field trip money (found out later the teacher had told her it was ok if we brought it Monday).  Oh well, Jacob got to play at the school play structure with a buddy so it turned out well.

Today I left for our church's <strike> shopping trip </strike> ladies retreat in Fargo.  I headed down a bit early so I could get some shopping done, and I was looking forward to going to Long Horn Steakhouse for supper.  Yes, by myself.  Some people might not be comfortable with that.  But, let me tell you, as someone with 4 kids - eating by myself at a nice restaurant was glorious!!

Let the kids top their own pizzas for supper tonight, then it was off to church to drop Emma off for her first youth retreat!

The kids have been begging me to let them have a lemonade or iced tea stand all summer.  I keep reminding them that, especially during the work week, people often aren't home, with it being really hot we rarely see people going for walks, and even if they are they often don't have any money on them.  They wanted to try it anyway.  So, Emma made them this sign and they set up by the road.

And had zero customers.

Will this be the end of the lemonade stand?
